I’m testing the use of Technorati tags in my posts, using Bunny’s Technorati Tags WordPress plugin. I don’t know if I’ll keep it; I want to see whether it makes an impact on accesses from Technorati or not.
Technorati already uses WordPress categories as tags, automatically; however, if you create a new category for every new little subject you write about, pretty soon you’ll have 500 categories or more, which will make them useless. But a Technorati tag can be used to the same effect, categorizing a particular post correctly, without adding a new category to your site.
Let’s see, then, if it makes a difference. I won’t be editing most of the old posts to have tags, just a couple of them, and any future posts will have them, obviously.

Pedro, I’m using the SimpleTags plugin (http://www.broobles.com/scripts/simpletags/) It’s quite nice and you don’t have to use categories or custom fields as Tecnorati tags, you can simply tag words in your post. It’s very simple, give it a try
I don’t have to use categories with this one either.
As to the custom field, I actually find it easier to add the tags separately to the content itself. But thanks for the suggestion, anyway.
As I said, WordPress categories are already Technorati tags, without using any plugins. But I don’t want to add a category for everything I write about, because then the site would have hundreds of them… that’s why I’m doing this now.
