All the "praises" I've seen aren't about PSP games, but about other usages, such as emulators. Or Lumines.

Sony simply doesn't get "it", yet.

Aye, it is me.

I did follow the link... and after scrolling down a bit I actually read some praises to the thing.

I still stand by my final sentence. If we could predict the future, there wouldn't be anyone truly alive now. :)

You didn't follow that link, did you? Apparently, more than 50% of PSP owners in the U.S. admit not having used it for "some time". It sells (and is going to sell in Europe, too) at the beginning, because of Sony's hype (they're very good at it), the name "Playstation", and better graphics. But a portable console needs to be able to be "pulled out for a quick game", and the PSP totally fails in that respect.

Even if they come out later with a "PSP QD" :) with 1/3 of the load times and 3x the battery life, I don't think it will save the platform. After all, people still believe the N-Gage has sidetalking... :)

Oh, and the DS has many more hits than Nintendogs (that one's sales are more noticeable because it's like The Sims - many non-gamers, including women, are buying one).

You are therefore saying it's gonna fail because it didn't come out right. So putting out improved versions of some of the "faulty" specs is not gonna happen: longer batteries, more games, faster UMD players, etc.

There is also the matter of the PSP's interactivity with the PS3 which, as far as I know, is still undisclosed as what it will exactly consist on. Only time will tell.

I believe it is wrong to judge something as soons as it comes out: it'd be like saying that if a human is born without an arm or a leg (or with extra ones, it doesn't matter), he'll never ammount to anything in his life.

As for the DS, without ever handling any of the two handheld consoles, it has, at the moment, at least one disadvantage against the PSP: its looks (even though that might not influence sales, and it may be corrected in the future).
I'll say I don't like the double screen thing, nor the touch-pad. It might have surprised me to the point of disliking the novelty or it might be something I do not wish to employ in handheld gaming.

As for the games, I think none of the 2 consoles have more than 3 good games at the moment: the DS has Nintendogs (even though the real thing is always better), it'll inevitably have a Pokémon (which are always fun games to play); the PSP has Metal Gear Ac!d (which has a weird card system, but it's Metal Gear (which started on the MSX system, I believe)), Medievil Ressurection (Medievil was a great "The Nightmare Before Christmas" feel game on the PS1, with nice humour and smooth gameplay).

Still, I think competition is what makes the market thrive. If, according to you, Nintendo makes great games, then how good will they be when they have to be better than other game developers'? Of course, if they think the PSP is gonna flop, they might slack their arses off, which wouldn't be good for their name.

Only time will tell, so let's let him think up a sentence or two before saying he doesn't have a word to say on the matter ;)
